Martha's Vineyard. Public Significance.

Martha's Vineyard.

I should not have to say more about it, but just in case, here is some added information.

"Martha's Vineyard is no stranger to presidential visits...his is not the first time the Obamas have visited Martha's Vineyard." -- VOA

"The Obama family is spending the last week of August vacationing on this New England island, which boasts some of the nation's priciest real estate - and stunning views. Here's what you'd pay for a spread near the president." -- CNN Money

What is the average weekly rental price for the area? Just under $5,000.00 to more than $50,000.00 per week. -- WeNeedAVacation.com

While the mechanics of renting the property were still ongoing at press time, the Gazette has learned that a rental agreement for the farm will comprise three leases, one to be held by the Obamas, another by the Secret Service and a third by a White House entourage.

"The amount of the rental has not been disclosed, but up-Island properties similar to Blue Heron Farm rent for between $35,000 to $50,000 per week." -- MVBuyerAgents.com

"The visit President Barack Obama and his family are paying to Martha's Vineyard next week will trigger flight restrictions that one expert called "far, far more draconian" than when President Bill Clinton vacationed on the island, the local Vineyard Gazette reported.

Flight limits issued Monday by the Federal Aviation Administration will effectively shut down the main Vineyard airport at 9 p.m. each night. All general aviation flights coming into the Vineyard will have to register 72 hours in advance and stop before arrival for a security screening at one of three airports in New York, Massachusetts or Rhode Island.

A secondary Vineyard airport, Katama, will be effectively closed while the limits are in place, from 10:30 a.m. Sunday to 5 p.m. on Aug. 30.

"THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT MAY USE DEADLY FORCE AGAINST THE AIRBORNE AIRCRAFT, IF IT IS DETERMINED THAT THE AIRCRAFT POSES AN IMMINENT SECURITY THREAT," the FAA said in its teletype-y, shouty way." -- Politico.com

"The luxuriousness of the getaway poses a political challenge for Obama at a time when many Americans are struggling with economic distress..."There's been a public significance to presidential vacations going back all the way to Lincoln, who went to the Soldier's Home in Washington during the Civil War," said Sean Wilentz, a Princeton University history professor and the author of "The Age of Reagan."..."Presidential vacations have long been fraught with symbolism, both positive and negative, according to Wilentz and other historians."...

"His life story is not one of putting down roots, per se, but more of the restless journey." said Catholic University political science professor John Kenneth White" -- WashingtonPost.com
